‘White Post’

KCC are aware of the fact that this is missing and has been since mid-April when it was first reported and then removed. Shellina Prendergast, our KCC Councillor has advised that they do plan to replace it but have had to work through the effect of considerable damage to highways over the year so far and this has taken a lower priority. I will advise when we know more.

Planning proposal for egg production facility at Park Farm, down Park Lane

I have just been notified about a planning proposal for an ‘Erection of a storage barn with associated mobile poultry shed and mobile home for establishment of organic egg enterprise’ on land At Park Farm, Park Lane Wormshill.

The planning application is ’18/504492/FULL’ and can be most easily found on MBC’s website:-

https://pa.midkent.gov.uk/online-applications/, using ‘Wormshill’ as the Parish, ‘North Downs’ as the ward and w/c 3rd September as the relevant week (although it was not on the list for that week, I assume it will be on this week’s list, to be received Friday 14 September).

This may lead to more traffic down Park Lane, potentially via larger vehicles than is currently the case, as well as developing a currently open area, potentially creating a precedent. I am already aware of at least one resident who has concerns and so suggest anyone who shares these should contact MBC. I will also relay any wider concerns to our ward councillor, Patrik Garten.

You may also notice application ’18/504678′ being submission of details on application ’18/502277′ (already approved) on the erection of two new agricultural buildings for calf rearing and a first floor extension to the existing milk and rest room building to create a farm office at Pond Farm, Bottom Pond Road. The main application has already been approved and is an extension to the existing farm.

Maidstone Council – Dog Control Measures Survey

Maidstone is consulting its residents on the possibility of introducing measures to combat irresponsible behaviour and are now seeking views on the specific measures they might introduce. The proposal seeks to make the following behaviours offences under the Anti-social behaviour Crime & Policing Act 2014:

– failing to put a dog on a lead when directed to do so by an authorised officer
– failing to pick up after your dog
– failing to exclude dogs from children’s play areas and crematorium grounds
– failing to keep dogs on leads at the cemetery

Please help them by completing their short survey and letting them know what you think of the proposals.

Click here to start the survey

The survey should take around 7 minutes to complete.
Survey closes: 19 August 2018

Bats in the belfry! (almost)

Its self evident from the need for regular cleaning that St Giles is host to some bats but we rarely see them! However, James Pearce recently found a grounded bat in the church. He took him to the vet and hopefully he will be returned in a month or so, once fed up a bit.
